Katherine (Katie) Licup is Chief Privacy and Information Risk Officer and Senior Counsel at ADM, a global agricultural processing and food ingredient company headquartered in Chicago that operates nearly 1,000 facilities in approximately 200 countries and is a leader in the futures brokerage industry. Katie is helping the century-old Fortune 50 company navigate a digital transformation that will enable it to streamline operations, leverage data to better serve its global suppliers, customers and employees, and fulfill its mission to solve global nutrition challenges of today and the future. Prior to ADM, Katie was Vice President, Enterprise Compliance Programs at Discover Financial Services where she was responsible for oversight of Discover’s Fair and Responsible Banking and Privacy Programs, which assessed and monitored fair lending, Unfair, Deceptive and Abusive Acts and Practices (UDAAP), and privacy risk across Discover Financial Services. She previously was Director, Privacy Compliance and Chief Privacy Officer, where she established Discover’s privacy program within Corporate Compliance and expanded it to cover international and employee privacy. Katie began her tenure at Discover in 2011 as a consumer protection regulatory attorney, where she advised several different marketing units and provided counsel on significant product launches.Katie earned an undergraduate degree in journalism and U.S. Navy commission from Northwestern University. She served on a U.S. destroyer based out of San Diego, and as a Navy public affairs officer. She received her J.D. with honors from Loyola University Chicago School of Law while completing her final tour of active duty.
